poweroff command: shut down the system
poweroff command Function
The Linux system can be shut down using the poweroff command and the shutdown log will be written to the /var/log/wtmp log file.
poweroff command Syntax
poweroff [Option]
Meaning of options:
The meanings of the options in the command are shown below:
Option | Description |
---|---|
-n | No sync before closing |
-p | Power off when called halt |
-v | Add output, including information |
-q | Reduce the output error unique information |
-w | Doesn’t actually shut down the system, just writes to the /var/log/wtmp file |
-f | Force shutdown without calling shutdown |
